Wes Loney was an Australian pilot that served on the Squadron from November 1942 till July 1944. He was a Sgt co-pilot when he arrived and later skipper of his own crew. He & his crew sank U-470 in October 1943. Loney survived the war and returned to Australia. According to the book Endurance - by Alwyn Jay, he later travelled to Germany to meet the a survivor of U-470.
